Berenice has extensive international cooperation and strategic business development experience. She has held various key senior positions across several organizations. Previous management and leadership positions include leading the Strategic Alliances, Contract R&D, Business Development, Africa, and Strategic Market Development portfolios.
Berenice previously headed the strategic alliances portfolio at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. She has held key responsibility for managing the contract research and development portfolio, the Africa and international development finance portfolios, and the strategic relationship management unit. Under a United Nations Fellowship, Education and Training Program for South Africans she obtained a BA, Economics, specializing in Sub-Saharan African Development. Berenice studied at the American University KOGOD School of Business, where she was awarded a MBA, international business. Berenice was raised in Swaziland and South Africa. She is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Africa Leadership Initiative-South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
Berenice has held various Board and leadership positions including; Board Member: South African National Accreditation System (SANAS); Board Member: Ethics Institute of South Africa; Commissioner: SARS Audit Committee; Board Member: HOPE Worldwide, Board Member: African Thought Initiative, and Board Member: The South African Sports Information and Science Agency (SISA).
