Carsten Hellpap

Principal Advisor, Energy Access and Green People Energy, Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Germany (BMZ)

During the last 25 years, Carsten Hellpap has worked at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and presently is senior manager of the Programme “Energising Development (EnDev)”. EnDev is a joint energy access programme of six European countries, which is implementing projects in 25 countries and so far has provided energy access to 19 million people. Prior to EnDev, he had been the head of the German Appropriate Technology and Ecoefficiency programme (GATE). He has been actively involved in the introduction and dissemination of different types of technologies in developing countries, considering economic, environmental and social factors. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 publications and papers on tech­nological, environmental and agricultural issues.

He carried out several training programmes for international organizations. He has been lecturer at the University of Darmstadt for seven years teaching different topics of international cooperation.
