Mr. Taizo Nishikawa

Mr. Nishikawa obtained a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo and a PhD in Engineering (Management of Science and Technology) from the University of Tohoku.

Prior to joining UNIDO, Mr. Nishikawa had been working for the Government of Japan. From 2007 until 2009, Mr. Nishikawa served in the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan as Deputy Director General for Science and Technology Policy and Deputy DirectorGeneral of the Office of Atomic Energy Policy.

From 2005 until 2007, Mr. Nishikawa served as the Deputy Director-General, Commerce and Information Policy Bureau, METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). From 2003 until 2005, Mr. Nishikawa was seconded to NEDO (Independent Administrative Agency of the New Energy and Industry Technology Development Organization) as Managing Director of Electronic and Information Technology Department.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Nishikawa served in various positions in the METI, including as Director of Conformity Assessment Division; Director of Automotive Parts Industry; Director of Regional Industry Promotion Office, etc. Mr. Nishikawa was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve as First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in France (1992-1995). He was awarded I’Ordre National du Mérite de la Répubulic Française, in 1999.

Mr. Nishikawa joined UNIDO as Head, Investment Technology and Promotion Office, in Tokyo in July 2009.
