Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal is an expert on energy and climate policies, energy modeling, especially in the context of cities and urbanization. He is a visiting researcher of the National Institute for Environmental Studies (Japan). Dr. Dhakal was one of the coordinating lead authors for the 5th Assessment Report of IPCC (Mitigation)’s Chapter on Human Settlements, Infrastructure and Spatial Planning. He is also a co-editor of the ongoing international Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities, and serves in the Science Steering Committee of the Global Carbon Project. He was the editor-in-chief of Carbon Management Journal, and an Associate Editor of Sustainable Cities and Societies Journal. His most recent book is titled “Low Carbon Cities” (Springer Publishing Company).
